Long ago, there was a kind and pious boy, الغُلام, who guarded a beautiful date palm garden. He was known for his strong faith and good manners.
One day, as الغُلام sat down with his three loaves of bread for lunch, a lean, panting desert dog suddenly ran towards him, looking very hungry.
Understanding its hunger, الغُلام gave the dog his first, then second, and finally his third loaf of bread, leaving himself with nothing. The dog ate them all gratefully and left.
The Witness and the Sacrifice
A generous man, رَجُلٌ صَالِحٌ, had secretly watched this. Amazed, he approached الغُلام and asked, ‘My son, how much food do you usually get each day?’
الغُلام replied, ‘Three loaves, which the garden owner provides.’ He then explained, ‘This dog must have come from far, suffering from extreme hunger, and I didn’t want him to leave still hungry.’
The man asked, ‘But what will you eat today?’ الغُلام answered simply, ‘I will not eat today. I will be patient until tomorrow.’
A Generous Reward
The man was deeply moved, thinking, ‘People criticize my generosity, but by Allah, this boy is even more generous than I am!’
The generous man then went to the garden owners and bought the entire garden, with all its trees and produce, from them.
As a gift, he gave the whole garden to الغُلام, deeply impressed by his incredible kindness, excellent character, and generous spirit.
